Ginkgo @ Kunsthaus Zürich

Earlier this year, on 17 April, Kunsthaus Zürich (Muesum of Art, Zurich) celebrated its 100th anniversary. A wonderful repository of modern art, from Munch to Picasso and Rodin to Polke, this museum also features in its courtyard, behind the library, a Ginkgo tree that was planted at the time of Kunsthaus' foundation one hundred years ago. The tree is legendary for its medicinal properties and along with its unique bi-lobed leaf it is of major significance in culture, poetry and philosophical meaning.

A recent article (below) paid tribute to the Ginkgo tree as patron of Kunsthaus Zürich.
